Does Guardian own a central station? Or does the company sub-contract monitoring?
Guardian owns and operates its central monitoring station. Guardian never subcontracts monitoring duties to other central stations, as other security companies often do.

Does Guardian's central station have power backup? Yes. Guardian's central station standby power is continuously tested and audited every week under the strict guidelines of Underwriters Laboratories.

How are my calls routed?

V. UL Certification

SpectraCom is the leading authorized dealer for Guardian Protection and Honeywell's local dealer program. Guardian's central station is UL Approved! Honeywell's equipment is also in complience with UL standards.

Underwriters Laboratories Alarm System certification programs provide municipal Authorities Having Jurisdiction and Insurance Companies with a convenient, reliable way to identify code complying Fire Alarms and Security Systems. SpectraCom takes the widely recognized UL mark and places it on an installed system in the form of a Certificate. A variety of AHJ's and Insurers around the United States have found these programs to be a great benefit when assessing risk and determining ongoing code compliance with Nationally Recognized Standards and codes. You can be confident your system has been installed to the highest standards with SpectraCom and a UL certified installation.

How does it work?
Underwriters Laboratories lists alarm companies to determine compliance with UL standards and Nationally recognized codes. SpectraCom goes through this evaluation process and we are capable of issuing certificates within your Listing Category. These certificates are generally only issued when an AHJ or Insurance Comapny requests that they be issued.

Why a certificate?
While it's important to require that your install company be Listed, it is even more important to request that an individual system be certificated. Your SpectraCom consultant can assist you in designing a UL certified system.
